How to remove duplicate lines

  1. Paste your text into the original-text box.
  2. Choose whether to ignore capitalization, surrounding spaces, or empty lines.
  3. Check the cleaned text and the number of lines removed.
  4. Select “Copy cleaned text” to copy the result.

Keep the first line and the original order

When the same line appears more than once, the first occurrence stays and later copies are removed. The remaining lines are never sorted, so your original order stays intact.

For example, if your text contains “Apples,” “Oranges,” “Apples,” and “Pears” on separate lines, the result is “Apples,” “Oranges,” and “Pears.”

Choose what counts as a duplicate

By default, uppercase and lowercase letters count as different, and spaces at the beginning or end of a line matter. Turn on the matching options to treat “Apple” and “apple” as the same, or to ignore surrounding spaces.

The empty-line option also removes lines made up entirely of spaces. Any line you keep remains exactly as you entered it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded or saved?

No. Duplicate removal happens in your browser. Your text is not sent to or stored on our server.

Does it change the order of my lines?

No. The first occurrence of each line stays in its original position, and repeated occurrences are removed.

Does ignoring surrounding spaces rewrite my text?

No. Surrounding spaces are ignored only while matching lines. The first line is kept with its original wording, capitalization, and spacing.
